Emory honed her skills in leadership, education, and communication by interning with Learning by Leading at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia.
"Working with the garden has encouraged me to pursue my career in science education. Without my time working there, I would never have realized the incredible impact science education can have on students' lives."
"I gained experience writing lesson plans and, more importantly, teaching these materials. I learned which methods of communicating were effective and efficient and how it could change depending on my audience. Communicating with students, parents, peers, and administrators will be a very important part of my teaching career, and I am excited to see how these skills will transfer. Though difficult at times, the challenges I faced have prepared me for many encounters I may have in the future. I am extremely grateful for my experience working at the garden and the impact it left on me."
