UGA Extension Internship

Mitzi and Morgan canningThe UGA Extension Internship

is an opportunity for students to explore county extension positions working in agriculture and natural resources, family and consumer sciences, 4-H and youth development programs. UGA Cooperative Extension has offices in 158 Counties across Georgia and provides trusted science-based research and education through its network of dedicated specialists, agents and volunteers.

Purpose: To educate and connect students to career opportunities in Extension.

Sponsor: College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES)

EL Area: Internship

Interns work directly with experienced extension agents across the state to learn firsthand how the organization serves Georgia. Students get hands-on experience in the field and office and complete a project and presentation to showcase their internship. Interns develop their communication and teaching skillsets as they learn to interact with farmers, families, 4-H student audiences, and members of the agribusiness community.

Maria Bowie

Working with our extension interns is one of the most rewarding aspects of my position. Seeing students get excited about applying their coursework knowledge to real world situations is truly inspiring. The feedback we receive from interns about the value of this experience and then seeing many of them being hired into full-time positions with the organization continually reminds me why we do this -- to build the most qualified, passionate workforce possible."
