Karen W. Saunders leads the development and delivery of unique internship programs with industry, non-profit, and government sectors housed within the Office of University Experiential Learning. Karen regularly presents to businesses and community partners as well as on-campus stakeholders to align student internship opportunities with the Experiential Learning outcomes required for inclusion on the Experiential Learning transcript. Additionally, she creates and coordinates the office strategy for industry outreach and manages relationships with business and community partners to construct degree-integrated, work-linked learning experiences that enable students to connect their classroom experiences to a future career path. Karen serves as a resource to the Office’s business and community partners, assisting them with talent pipeline construction that enables them to connect with the students of the University of Georgia.
Karen is an active member of the Georgia Association of Colleges and Employers (GACE) and the National Society for Experiential Learning (NSEE). Karen joined the University of Georgia in 2010 and has supported the Office of University Experiential Learning at the University of Georgia since 2017. Karen holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas, has been happily married for 30 years and is the mother of two amazing children.
