Find an Approved Internship

Search “EL Activities” > “Internships” on engage.uga.edu (log in with your MyID). Narrow your search by your college.

OR, check with your advisor.

Since EL activities are approved by the individual schools and colleges of the university, not all internships are approved for every major. You’ll want to check with your advisor and/or your college’s EL Certification Officer for specific resources related to approved internships.

Non-Credit & For-Credit Internships

Both types of internships can qualify for EL. Pursuing a for-credit internship means that you are enrolled in an internship course for your major (usually 1-3 hours), while non-credit internships do not require enrollment and do not count for credit hours. Non-credit internships are a good option for the summer if you are not enrolling in courses.

I found and secured an internship, but it's not approved for EL. −+

Check with your advisor to see if there is an approved course or non-credit activity that can be taken along with your internship. Some colleges also allow for EL exceptions for internship. This is done by your major college, so reach out to your advisor or EL Certification Officer to find out if exceptions are available and what the process is to apply.

I’m hoping to apply for an EL Scholarship for my internship, but it’s not on the list of approved internships. −+

EL Scholarships offered by the Office of University Experiential Learning may only be used for activities that are already approved for the EL requirement.

Unfortunately, gaining activity approval through an exception request does not qualify an activity for EL funding. We encourage you to reach out to your school/college or department to inquire about internship funding.
