Jerónimos Monastery

This photo was taken at the Jerónimos monastery in Lisbon near Belém. It was taken inside the monastery, which was the first part of the tour.
I just think the architecture is so intricate and beautiful in this section of the monastery, and I was able to think about the life of religious brothers here and how they spent time in the courtyard area and walked around the same hallways. I loved exploring the monastery and it was one of the first landmarks we visited in Portugal and just remember thinking how cool it was. I also like how this place is significant in the area of Belém, which is the home of the famous Portuguese pastry that I really enjoyed trying. It also reminds me of when the marathon was taking place the same morning and getting to see all the runners from the train.
