Diocletian’s Palace and Cathedral

This photo represents more than just a moment: it represents the impact of experiencing history and culture firsthand. In Split, Croatia, we walked through the ancient stone streets that otherwise we would have only read about. It truly gave me a deeper appreciation for the complexity and longevity of human history (especially thinking about the stone structures within the palace that have been standing for 1700 years). Navigating a different country and having the opportunity to be immersed in their culture helped me to be more adaptable, curious, and gain a broader perspective through time and worldwide. Furthermore, this photo reminds me of touring the palace with our group, allowing me to learn from the guide, but also my fellow peers’ observations and reflections. Overall, this picture represents the immersive experience that this trip fostered.
