EL Connect Abroad Explore

For Adventurous First-Years Looking to Go Deeper

Explore builds on the spirit of discovery and adds even more depth. Open to first-year students across all majors, these 14-15 day faculty-led programs take place during Maymester or Summer and offer 2-3 credit hours. Each Explore program is guided by a central theme, such as sustainability, human rights, or global health, and uses that lens to engage with the host culture. Through academic activities, cultural excursions, and collaborative learning, students gain a deeper, more intentional understanding of the world around them. If you’re ready to go beyond the surface and make global learning a key part of your first year, Explore is your next step.

By participating in this faculty-led program, you’ll earn academic credit and fulfill UGA’s Experiential Learning graduation requirement (approved for most majors).

Program fees vary by destination. HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarships may be applied toward tuition, while additional scholarships and financial aid can often be used toward program costs. For more information on Study Away funding, visit the Office of Global Engagement. You may also be eligible for additional scholarship support through one of our global education partners, WorldStrides.
