Approved Blanket Statements

The following schools and colleges have approved blanket statements for certain courses and activities that fulfill the Experiential Learning requirement.


College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences 

  • Global: Students in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences may fulfill the requirement though participation in any UGA-sponsored exchange program at studyaway.uga.edu.
  • Research: Students in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences may fulfill the requirement by taking any undergraduate research course denoted with an R-suffix, or participation in a CURO Research Assistantship, or CURO Summer Fellowship.
  • Service: Students in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences may fulfill the requirement by taking any service learning course (denoted with an S-suffix).

College of Education

  • Global: Students in the College of Education may fulfill the requirement though participation in any UGA-approved study abroad or field study program.
  • Research: Students in the College of Education may fulfill the requirement by taking any undergraduate research course denoted with an R-suffix, or participation in a CURO Research Assistantship, or CURO Summer Fellowship.
  • Service: Students in the College of Education may fulfill the requirement by taking any service learning course (denoted with an S-suffix).
  • Courses: Students in the College of Education may fulfill the requirement by taking any UGA course approved for Experiential Learning.
  • Non-Credit Activities: Students in the College of Education may fulfill the requirement by completing any non-course activity that has been approved for Experiential Learning. 

College of Environment and Design

  • Global: Students in the College of Environment and Design may fulfill the requirement through any CED-approved study abroad program or field study program (Approved field study courses within the CED include: LAND 4400, LAND 4410, LAND 4440, and LAND 4800).
  • Global: Students in the College of Environment and Design may fulfill the requirement through any UGA-approved study abroad program or field study program.
  • Research: Students in the College of Environment and Design may fulfill the requirement by taking any undergraduate research course denoted with an R-suffix, or participation in a CURO Research Assistantship, or CURO Summer Fellowship.
  • Service: Students in the College of Environment and Design may fulfill the requirement by taking any CED-approved service learning course (denoted with an S-suffix). (Approved “-S” Courses within the CED include: LAND 3030S, LAND 3040S, LAND 4050S, LAND 4060S, LAND 4080S, LAND 4090S, LAND 4095S, LAND 4370S, LAND 4420S, LAND 4750S, LAND 4900S, LAND 4910S, HIPR 4100S, HIPR 4330S, HIPR 4460S, HIPR 4680S).
  • Service: Students in the College of Environment and Design may fulfill the requirement by taking any UGA-approved service learning course (denoted with an S-suffix).

College of Family and Consumer Sciences

  • Global: Students in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences may fulfill the requirement though participation in any UGA-approved study abroad or field study program.
  • Research: Students in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences may fulfill the requirement by taking any undergraduate research course denoted with an R-suffix, or participation in a CURO Research Assistantship, or CURO Summer Fellowship
  • Service: Students in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences may fulfill the requirement by taking any service learning course (denoted with an S-suffix).

College of Pharmacy

  • Global: Students in the College of Pharmacy may fulfill the requirement though participation in any UGA-approved study abroad or field study program.
  • Research: Students in the College of Pharmacy may fulfill the requirement by taking any undergraduate research course denoted with an R-suffix, or participation in a CURO Research Assistantship, or CURO Summer Fellowship
  • Courses: Students in the College of Pharmacy may fulfill the requirement by taking any UGA course approved for Experiential Learning.

College of Public Health

  • Global: Students in the College of Public Health may fulfill the requirement though participation in any UGA-approved study abroad or field study program.
  • Research: Students in the College of Public Health may fulfill the requirement by taking any undergraduate research course denoted with an R-suffix, or participation in a CURO Research Assistantship, or CURO Summer Fellowship
  • Service: Students in the College of Public Health may fulfill the requirement by taking any service learning course (denoted with an S-suffix).
  • Courses: Students in the College of Public Health may fulfill the requirement by taking any UGA course approved for Experiential Learning.
  • Non-Credit Activities: Students in the College of Public Health may fulfill the requirement by completing any non-course activity that has been approved for Experiential Learning. 

Franklin College of Arts and Sciences

  • Global: Students in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences may fulfill the requirement through participation in any UGA-approved study abroad or field study program.
  • Research: Students in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences may fulfill the requirement by taking any undergraduate research course denoted with an R-suffix, or participation in a CURO Research Assistantship, or CURO Summer Fellowship.
  • Service: Students in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences may fulfill the requirement by taking any service-learning course (denoted with an S-suffix).
  • Non-Credit Activities: Students in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences may fulfill the requirement by participating in selected non-credit experiences; for example, participation in University Theatre Season productions or music ensembles. Students must seek approval from the Experiential Learning Certification Officer.

Grady College of Journalism

  • Global: Students in the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication can fulfill the requirement through participation in any Grady-sponsored study abroad or domestic field study program. With prior approval of the Experiential Learning Certification Officer, non-Grady-sponsored study abroad or domestic field study programs may satisfy the requirement.
  • Research: Students in the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication can fulfill the requirement by taking any undergraduate research course denoted with an R-suffix, or participation in a CURO Research Assistantship, or CURO Summer Fellowship.

Odum School of Ecology 

  • Global: Students in the School of Ecology may fulfill the requirement though participation in any UGA-approved study abroad or field study program.
  • Research: Students in the School of Ecology may fulfill the requirement by taking any undergraduate research course denoted with an R-suffix, or participation in a CURO Research Assistantship, or CURO Summer Fellowship
  • Service: Students in the School of Ecology may fulfill the requirement by taking any service learning course (denoted with an S-suffix).

School of Public and International Affairs

  • Global: Students in the School of Public and International Affairs may fulfill the requirement through participation in any UGA-approved study abroad or field study program.
  • Global: Students in the School of Public and International Affairs may fulfill the requirement through participation in any SPIA-sponsored study abroad programs (including SPIA at Oxford), or GLOBIS study abroad courses in China, Stellenbosch, Scotland, Ireland, South Africa, Verona, Italy, and Liverpool.
  • Research: Students in the School of Public and International Affairs may fulfill the requirement by taking any undergraduate research course denoted with an R-suffix, or participation in a CURO Research Assistantship, or CURO Summer Fellowship.
  • Service: Students in the School of Public and International Affairs may fulfill the requirement by taking any service-learning course (denoted with an S-suffix).

School of Social Work

  • Global: Students in the School of Social Work may fulfill the requirement through participation in any UGA-approved study abroad or field study program.
  • Research: Students in the School of Social Work may fulfill the requirement by taking any undergraduate research course denoted with an R-suffix, or participation in a CURO Research Assistantship, or CURO Summer Fellowship.
  • Service: Students in the School of Social Work may fulfill the requirement by taking any service-learning course (denoted with an S-suffix).

Terry College of Business

  • Global: Students in the Terry College of Business may fulfill the requirement through participation in any UGA-approved study abroad or field study program.
  • Research: Students in the Terry College of Business may fulfill the requirement by taking any undergraduate research course denoted with an R-suffix, or participation in a CURO Research Assistantship, or CURO Summer Fellowship.
  • Service: Students in the Terry College of Business may fulfill the requirement by taking any service-learning course (denoted with an S-suffix).


Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources

  • Research: Students in the Terry College of Business may fulfill the requirement by taking any undergraduate research course denoted with an R-suffix. (starting Spring 2020)
